Hello...

There is no such thing as "new complex tachycardia, I think you may be referring to Narrow Complex Tachycardia.

A tachycardia is defined as a heart rate greater than 100 beats per minute. In NCT (narrow complex tachycardias) the QRS complex is shorter than 120ms --->3 small squares on the EKG.

Sinus Tach is called a Narrow Complex Tachycardia. They are one in the same (interchangeable) Just like Ventricular Tacycardia is called a Wide Complex Tacycardia (WCT) It is only making reference to how the QRS complex appears on the EKG...

Don't start worrying about this. Your question..."Is this serious?" well, based on the history you gave in past posts, the answer is "No" this is not serious in your case.

the heart doc wants me to see a ep specialist just to make sure everything is ok he said that the comlex tachcardia might of been just because my heart rate was going fast in sinus rythem this true? does my case sound like ventricular tachcardia?i read the ventricular is dangerous and can cause death that scares the heck out of me

Hi Tiffy...

Do not worry about V-Tach, I only pointed that out as a comparison of NCT vs. WCT. None of your monitoring nor any of your EKG's have ever indicated any signs of V-Tach. This would be a very rare occurance and even more rare in someone who's heart is otherwise healthy

It sounds like your cardiologist is being thourough by referring you to the EP Dr.

hey brook sorry to bother you again but i have one last question when my heart doc showed me the complex tachcardia it looks like a vt if i look up a vt ekg is there something that can mimic what a vt looks like?

Hello...

VT and SVT with aberrant conduction look similar, but they vary greatly in terms of origin, pathophysiology and treatment. If the QRS complex is 0.14 seconds or greater this favors VT. Aberrant rhythms and BBBs rarely achieve that degree of width and are usually around .5 seconds. Distinguishing between the two takes a trained eye and are not always easy to interpret.

Aberrancy is due to an abnormal mechanism of conduction that is caused by a difference in refractory periods between the right and left bundle branches. This doesn't mean that there is a permanent physiological blockage. Many SVTs with aberrancy are the result of increased atrial activity, coupled with an increase in automaticity of the AV node.

SVTs with aberrant conduction or SVTs with preexisting BBB's (bundle branch blocks) may mimic V-Tach. Did your Dr say that the EKG resembled VT or is this your own interpretation? I'm sure that the EP that you are being referred to will sort this all out for you. Is sounds like you're on the right path, just try to relax:)
