Am 37  had a vt lasted 11 hours not sure it what it was at the time as i was out at a party the night before though it was a bad hangover  went to gp as got worried then straight to hospital rush to doctors and had to put me out and shock me to get me out of it ,all test was done excape eps because it was not a cure doctor scribe it as 50/50 to find any wrong,i said i did not want it because if they damage or scrape heart then i would need a icd left hospital a week later at my own will not sure about doctors they seem to have to many wrong answer) .anybody got any ideas or had simlair problems?

Well, if you had an 11 hour ventricular tachycardia, you should certainly consider get it examined.

If the electroshock worked, you likely have what is called "ventricular reentry tachycardia". Such conditions are often caused by "something" (the ventricles don't have any normal circuits that may form a reentry tachycardia) and even though you seem to tolerate it well, my opinion is that you should follow the doctor's advice here.

I don't think we are in position to argue against cardiologists considering potential harmful arrhythmias. Even if they damage the heart, an ICD is not implanted (though a pacemaker may be). Because the ventricles don't contain impulse-making spots except those causing PVCs, chance is low that they mess up something.

You may need an ICD, but if you do, that's to terminate the ventricular tachycardia. Take care, and I hope you will get better.

PS: If a hangover triggered this arrhythmia I would drink less if I were you.
