irregular loud heart beat

diagnosed with a murmur since birth. now 53 and can't sleep with my ear on a pillow as it echoes this irregular bizarre beat. I've tried leaving the stereo or tv on to drown it out - even supporting my ear in a cuff off the pillow so that the resonance is alleviated at bit. This is getting ridiculous. I don't use pharmaceuticals, and never will. I have a Varsity letter for sports and lots of records still to be beaten. Work at an organic kitchen, so let's not go that route What I wanna know, is should I be wary, or just get a pot card and sleep at least more than 3 hours maybe 3 times a week?

Good to know. I will consult my physician. In the meanwhile, looks like I will keep the radio on at low volume for distraction.

Pot has really bad effects on arrhythmias, can cause some even if you don't  normally have any.  Not a good choice until you get an irregular heartbeat ruled out.

As someone who was a teenager in the 70s,I don't consider pot a pharmaceutical as it isn't manufactured, but it is a drug that may effect your arrhythmia, if that's what you have.If I were you I'd have it evaluated first then decide from there. I'm sure there are some holistic things you can try,I just know pot aggravated my PVC and other issues so I haven't indulged in over 20 years.

I have been to doctors. They have suggested some addictive sleeping aids. And so yes, medicinal marijuana seems like a good alternative.
But I do plan on going to the Dr. again, as this is getting increasingly annoying. From what I have gathered, this could be a simple hard wax build up in my ears. Ear Candleing *sp* used to be an option, but is getting very difficult to find the Candles

Are doctors also on your "never will" list?  A doctor would be a good place to start.  You seem to have an irregular heat beat from what I get in you post.  If it is constant the doctor will have no problem seeing/hearing it and should be able to move to a diagnosis quickly.

I'm an old guy, so I can only guess what a "pot card" is, assume medical marijuana - and you will never take pharmaceuticals?
