is catheter ablation the first thing to try?

is catheter ablation the first thing to try?

i have had episodes where i feel like i am going to black out.
the cardiologist did a 30 day monitor and his office called me after the first 2 weeks to tell me they had enough information and i could stop wearing it.

i did not have any of the black out periods but the machine did self record events when i did not fell any symptoms.

the md said i am having periods of hr of 200 and he sez there is a short circuit and he wants to do catheter ablation

he also did a stress test and a echo ocardiogram

i dont think stress showed any thing

i asked if being over weight caused it and he said no i was born with it

I always believe it is important to follow the advice of your doctor.  If you feel uneasy, then get a second opinion.
With regard to your question, ablation is one of the few medical procedures where the word "cure" is used.  Many heart rhythm issues can be reasonably controlled with medication, but that does not fix the problem.
I my situation, I asked for ablation to treat my atrial fibrillation because I wanted to be free of medication and the "cure" possibility appealed to me.  It seems to have worked for me on the first try, and I have been symptom free and free of heart rhythm meds since.
Ablation is a low risk procedure and most places typically report an 80% success rate.
