life after diagnisis of arterial fib

My husband was diagnosed last week following his 3rd chemotherapy treatment (R CHOP). He is feeling very fragile and is worried that he will not be able to continue his normal activities (biking, walking and curling) when he recovers from his chemo treatments. Can I reassure him that he is not dying and that he will be active with this diagnosis?

Sorry you folks are having a hard time dealing with chemo.

While your subject line states atrial fibrillation, AFib, I don't see that anywhere in your post.

If your husband has AFib and is able to control the heart rate to reasonable levels, light biking, walking, and curling should be possible from that point of health.  I take Metoprolol to control/lower my HR due to AFib.

If your question about chemo and exercise I suggest you make your post at the cancer community:  http://www.medhelp.org/forums/show/59

He was diagnosed with AFib after the 3rd treatment. He is on medication to control his heart rate. Thanks for the information.

I had 8 chemos CHOPR. I am walking, doing things around the house. Only thing holding me back is depression with a lawsuit against a Bank and Insurance Co. who denied me a claim when I was diagnosed with Cancer Stage IV. Tell him to try and stay positive. I believe he can do whatever he puts his mind to. God bless and take care.

As an a-fib and other arrhythmia sufferer, I can say reassure him that he is not going to die from this diagnosis but whether he can remain active while in a-fib is not something you can predict. It affects people differently and some people can not function while in a-fib, while others don't even know they have it. I have both, sometimes I have to stay in bed and other times it is silent. There is help if he is symptomatic but it might take a while to find a treatment. Good luck.
