listening for palpatations

Can ones doctor tell if one is having pvcs or other irregular heart beats by simple listening with their stethoscope or can i only be picked up on an ekg.

You would think they would be able to hear a pvc/pac or any other arrythmia on a stethoscope. My ep cardiologist is an older doctor. He said he started getting PACs and one particular time he happened to be near an ekg machine and he got caught his on a recording. So I guess that even though they might be able to hear them, there must be something about being able to read the event to tell exactly what it is by the way the heart beat is.
