mind playing tricks on heart

Do you think the mind is powerful enough to trick your heart into missed beats,i have had them for years but they ramped up a few notches 6 weeks ago,I have got so worked up about the change in pattern and I am currently waiting for test results from a monitor I had to wear....I have endlessly looked at forums and read other peoples stories and last night after some lovely responses I have thought when I feel a missed beat "oh,whatever" and I really mean it when I say I don't care about them...guess what? have felt about 5 missed beats in the last 6 hours,a breeze considering for 6 weeks I have had about 5 missed beats every couple of minutes...lol its like my body has got bored of teasing me

I think your right! I had them something awful for weeks. I set up another doctors appointment because they were getting so bad. Well sure enough the day before my appointment they disappear. After the doctor gives me the normal "everythings fine, just they way your heart is" talk...I havent had any. A few here and there but not they were. So yes I think my mind has something to do with it!!!!!!!!!

Yes indeed, the mind can affect the heart beat and its patterns.   Being stressed and full of anxiety are know to cause problems for those of us with sometime naughty hearts and even, I think, for those with perfectly "normal" hearts.

I work the other way around. I have an "infinite" resource in believing that my permanent AFib will just go away.  And, like on my walk tonight, I sometimes think it has.  I'm still walking for exercise, gave up jogging about 3 years ago.  Tonight the cool temperatures here in Florida set me into thinking "maybe I should jog at least a few hundred feet".  Maybe tomorrow night I will.

Happily my AFib is mostly asymptomatic when I am inactive, but when I start any heavy physical activity (not jogging, just on my feet and working) I notice I get short of breath easily (but no tonight :)  )   -  that is due to the AFib reducing the pumping capacity of my otherwise healthy ventricles.

Think positive, even if it "Hurts", but talk with you doctor if you have new persistent symptoms...best to get a professional opinion if something really different "pops up".

I wonder about the mind connection too.  For the last few months, I've had fewer PVCs, but I've had a lot of heart pounding after even the slightest exercise (like climbing stairs or walking briskly for a short while when shopping). And this is a new thing.  I don't have heart pain, although i sometimes get a little tired.  My pulse gets fast, but not above 125 beats a minute or so., usually, when I'm active. Yet I feel the heart pounding in my neck, stomach, and head. I can hear the pounding in my right ear when  the pounding starts. When I'm resting, I don't have it much.

Last month,  (advised by my ear doctor) I did  have an MRI with contrast dye to rule out serious blood vessel issues, but nothing further. I don't know whether this heart pounding is serious enough to see my regular doctors about. Usually they just tell me my 68 year-old heart is fine except for mild mitral and tricuspid valve problems.  Had an echocardiogram 1 1/2 years ago that was okay. Do I need to go back, wear yet another monitor and have more tests?  I don't know.

Oops, I forgot to mention that the MRI was of my head only. The pounding is bothersome, but at least I can take my pulse without having to feel my wrist or neck. I guess that's a good thing.  (?)  Heart was quiet all morning, but is now pounding again. I have no idea why.

My heart beat also can be felt (and seen) in my head and neck. I can "see" it also, as my eyes seem to vary --like blinking--when it beats. It is very strong and scary to me. I usually feel it worst early in the morning when I get out of bed and am in the bathroom. I am glad to see I am not alone.
