misdiagnosed with LQTS

My daughter was diagnosed on her 1st visit to the cardio specialist - put on a beta blocker - we were told to get genetic testing done - told she would need to visit monthly for a check-up and EKG and in the upcoming weeks told we would need to discuss a defib. implant.  This didn't sit well with me - so I took all the information (or lack of it) to a top cardio in the northeast.  Turns out my daughter is perfectly normal - with a strong and normal heartbeat.  Thank God!  What could the results have been IF I HAD STARTED HER ON THE RX?

Hello,

You should really ask your doctor / cardiologist this question, but I think a beta blocker is a very safe medication. It's often used for other conditions than heart diseases - it's effect is to reduce the effect of adrenaline on the body.

It's often used to prevent migraines, panic attacks, tremor, flushing, and it's often used by musicians and speakers before they enter the stage.

Anyway - it's really good your daughter doesn't have LQTS! Congrats on that!

That is very good news for you and your daughter. I was just wondering if this top cardio is an Electrophysiologist (heart rhythm specialist)? Regular Cardiologists are famous for minimizing the risks associated with LQTS. Just thought I needed to pass this info on.
Take care,
