Hi,
I had an ablation for AVNRT in Aug. 08.  It is normal to have palpitations after an ablation for up to 6 months, just like your Dr. said.   Remember, your heart has been through a  bit of a trauma from the ablation process and it needs time to heal.  The heart muscle is still pretty irritated from the burning of the extra pathways.

I know how scary it is to feel these palpitations because I felt them too after my ablation .  It's also natural to worry that the ablation failed .  Did your Dr. tell you he believed the ablation was successful?  You know, when you get worried and anxious, it can cause your heart to skip beats because of the extra adrenaline your body produces. I know it's hard but just try not to let these palpitations upset you.  You'll notice them less and less as time goes on.   It really is a part of the healing process.

Hope this helped!

I had an ablation for wpw March of 08.  The doctor felt he got it but I went to another at the UOP and she said I still have it.  The bad signal is across the main artery of the heart so they can't do another one.  I woke up the day after the ablation and started with pvc's and pac's I still have them today.  Some days they are worse than others.  I did wind up doing the beta blocker because I just couldn't stand it.  It got me so upset and just made my life misrable.  I also got very upset and anxious when this was happening and I think it made things worse.  I tried xanax for about 2 month but stopped them because it didn't work.  If you can't stand it you could try the beta blocker and in a few months stop and see how bad they are.  I am wishing you well.

Mabebesc, could you please describe your wpw symptoms to me?

I believe I have wpw right now.  I am still getting the tests done to confirm it.  One doctor told me that my ekg was indicative of wpw, and now I am waiting to see a cardiologist/electropysiologist.

My symptoms are a slightly faster than normal heart rate when doing normal at  rest activities, (sometimes a pulse of 80's instead of 72) and a higher pulse rate after excercise that does not return to normal in a normal time period. (like for sustained excercise I get a 170 Heart rate, that will only still be like 120 after 5-10 minutes.

Could you please tell me about your symptoms?
