paroxysmal a-fib returned after 5 yr ablation

paroxysmal a-fib returned after 5 yr ablation

had cryoablation 5 yrs ago for parox a-fib, no problems. It returned after 5 yrs. Had 3 long sessions of it. Saw alternative dr., but, to no avail it seems not to be helping. Today had ekg performed while it was occuring, confirmed at l40 beats etc,. Primary Dr. suggests metoprolol 50 mg 1x along with aspirin.to see how it goes.

Question, I have always had low to normal blood pressure, and no other heart issues.  How will I be able to perform with this medication. I am now 75 yrs old, very active, still work, never short of breath & exercise etc,. Prior to my cryoablation procedure I was on Amoradane meds with all the side effects & met the criteria for the procedure.

I'm aware that a-fib does return after the procedure. Have others been successful with this medication, and how long does it work, considering I have never had high blood pressure problems. I absolutely refuse to go  on any blood thinners, & that was my reason for the cryoablation procedure.

Appreciate your feedback.
