partially clogged cartoid artery

I was wondering if you could help me.  I have been diagnosed after a Doplar(sp) test with a partially clogged left cartoid artery.  My Doc wanted to have further testing done to determine the extent of the blockage but I haven't had time to have the other testing done yet.  My question is, at night when I lay on my left side, I can hear my heartbeat soo loud I cannot sleep.  I actually have to turn the TV on to drown out my heartbeat so I can sleep.  I have asked my wife if she can hear it because it is soo loud I feel like she should be able to hear it.  She has told me no she cannot hear it.  I know I am not going crazy, I can actually hear it.  Anyway, could this be related to the partially clogged cartoid artery.
