I have taken PropafenonePropafenone Propafenone hydrochloride at 225 mg three times a day and twiceTwice-a-day a day when I was in sinus following a couple of electrocardioversion. If you're following me, the cardioversions were not purminate...one time I was in sinus for about 18 months the other time for two years.
As far as I know a dose of Propafenone once a day will not do much, as the medication will "wear off" quickly. That's why I've taken as much as every 8 hours.
Rythmol does come in a slow release (SR), that my be fine once a day. I've taken that too at the 425 mg level, but even then I took twice a day. None of the medication on their own have stopped my arrhythmia problem. My ER suggest a few months bak trying Amiodarone. I said no.
As it stands I am in AFig and living with it, taking warfarin and Toprol XL to keep HR down.
I took 200 amiodarone for six months before I stabilized at a pulse of 60. That was 14 months ago. In that time my heart beat has never varied, no flips or tachys. I have now been on Propafenone 150/day for six weeks and so far my pulse remains stable
The question remains: was it the amio that put my TSH up to 38? No way of verifying, I guess
Good to read you are in NSR. I agree 150 mg Propafenone isn't much mediation, and its half-life is something like 8 hours I think. Rhythmol SR (a 24 hour capsule) would seem to me to be better, but if it works great.
Propafenone has help hold me in NSR following electro-cardioversion, but then I was taking 225 mg Propafenone every 8 hours. Did it work? Who knows, I was in NSR for 18 months or so, then back to AFib. See my bio, I had other problems aggravating my AFib.
I may try a stronger drug, such as you had.
Your "TSH" lost me, I don't understand the abbreviation.
