propranolol for fast heart

propranolol for fast heart

so my doc just prescribed me propranolol for my fast heart beat. its only 10 mg two times a day.  i hate taking meds and just wondering if this is a pretty safe med to take.  i know 10 mg is a low dose but im a small person, 100 lbs, 24 years old.  i guess my biggest fear is my heart rate and/or bp will drop to low.  so is this a safe med to try?

10mg is very light.  Some folks go as high as 80mg, 3-4 times per day.

You might feel a bit tired at first, maybe some dry mouth, but that's it.  I tend to over monitor meds and propanelol was easy.  I was taking 10-20 mg as-needed.  I once went to 40mg.  no issues.

Propanolol is one of the first ever developed medications.  It's been in use since 1968, never once has there been anything negative documented for it.

You can try cutting a 10mg in half and see how you react.  Then increase it to 10.
