Beta blockers are pretty standard heart meds.  They prescribe them often for people with irregular heart beats but all meds lose their effectiveness after a while and the dose has to be increased.  At her young age that does mean a long term usage.  Not sure what affects that would have but I would question the doctors why they think it is necessary.  Does your daughter have high blood pressure?  If it is high, aside from the long qt, then it might not be a bad idea to take the meds but I would question the ones that want to prescribe them why they think it is necessary.  Ask what are her risk factors if she doesn't take them.  You have 2 that say she should and one that doesn't.  Question them why and you may have a better idea what you should do.  Best of luck, but I would avoid your daughter taking cold and allergy meds since she already has a borderline long qt.

I don't have experience with long qt or the medicine but might suggest getting a second opinion to be sure.  Her rate is borderline high but from what I have read it is when a female goes to 480 that it becomes a concern.  Other factors like unexplained fainting or seizures or a family history of long qt as well as sudden cardiac death. So why was your daughter's qt tested?  I would research the medicine to know the side effects versus the benefits.  If your daughter has risk factors for sudden cardiac death then the rewards outweigh the risks of taking the medicine but just inform yourself the best you can and seeking a second opinion is always a good option when it comes to taking medicine that may be a life long endeavor.  Best of luck with it all.  If your daughter does indeed fall into the high risk category the meds will help.  I would also suggest that she avoid cold and allergy meds as from what I understand they can prolong qt but talk to the doctor about it as well.  Take care.
