today i finally broke down today & went my school nurse & had her listen to my heart. she said that it speeds up, then slows down, then speeds up, then slows down, etc. i don't know how long this has been going on. this isn't the first time i've been told my heart beats like this, but the person that also told me wasn't a doctor or nurse of any sort... i have a heart murmur i was born with - i don't how serious it is, i mean it's never given me any problems... i smoked for less than a year (YES i DO know i'm underage, & YES i HAVE quit) but i smoked more than just cigarettes, i've smoked weed. i've smoked weed 5 times within 2 year & a half years, i've been been high 2 out of those five times, the rest were just a buzz (YES, i've quit that too.) the nurse said she wanted me to come in every day for the next couple days just so that she can listen to it more to have something to compare it to... the nurse asked if i have chest pains, nausea/vomiting - both answers were a no.
i guess my question is can anyone tell me what to think of this? maybe something i should expect out of this just based on the things i've said...?
Hi read your post and it sounds like i wouldn't be too worried about this. Millions of people have heart murmers and generally they'llnever have a problem with it in their lives so you can relax on that one. Hearts are supposed to speed up and slow down depending on what you are doing and if you are upset. Weed can definately effect your heart rate at the time you are smoking it and it is best to stay away from all of that stuff if you are worried about your health period. If you are really scared you need to go to your parents or grandparents and talk to them and tell them you want to see your family doctor for a physical just to ease your mind a little bit that you are okay..You have tons of things on your side,,,,,your age,,,,your health.......all of it....talk to your parents Daryl that is what they are there for and i am sure that they love you and as a secondary recommendation you can always talk to your school counsellor. Good luck , don't panic, i'm pretty sure you may be going thru something else that may be effecting you right now and stress/anxiety may just be making it act up.........
yeah, i try not worry about it but the fact that it happens all the time, even when i'm sober too, (at least every time someone listens to it they say they can hear an extra beat) it just makes me worry...
& yeah, ever since i had a whole bunch of really bad things happen to me, i've been stressed alot, & then i started having anxiety.
but thanks so much, really! you helped put me in a good, optimistic mood :)
