rate response settings

rate response settings

I am a 59 yr old make and have had an ICD (bi-v) for 5.5 yrs.. I have had several incidents of v-tach firing, but not for several years. Everything seemd to be well balanced until I had my rate responsivness settings increased last Fri. I have Boston Scientific device. The rep adjusted the rate response setting from 8 to 14. Upon leaving the office, my HR would jump to 110 with very little movement. This occured thruout the weekend ( I called and was told to see if it was still bothersome on Monday and call back then) My HR stayed pretty much at 110 bpm. On Sunday, My defib fired and I was unconscious when my wife found me. Interrogation revealed that it fired 4 times inside of one or two minutes with rates from 250 to 325. I was semi aware of the first shock only. With no incidents for 2 years, it seems awfully coincidental that would happen after such an agressive adjustment of the rate response. Could this have happened due to the heart being agitated from running so faast for so long? Also, has anyone experienced the same results?
