recovery from ablation

I am almost 1 week post ablation for episodes of SVT.  During the procedure my EP Consultant was able to do 4 burns but on the last burn was a little too close to the AV node.  Before the procedure he advised that if this was the case then he would have me in for a cryoablation as this had a lower % of risk as well as lower success rate.

However, since the procedure I have had little let up in my symptoms which include missed beats as well as racing heart beats (190 bpm).  Today has been the worst and I have just struggled to get to the top of the stair without my heart racing and feeling like I was going to pass out.

I'm waiting my follow up appointment and didn't get to see my EP consultant following the procedure before I was discharged and am now a little worried that the procedure didn't work at all.

My question, I guess is for those of you who have had an ablation (successful), how long was it before you noticed any improvement?

I'm two months post-ablation.  I had some flips and flutters for a few weeks, and some hard beats that stopped almost immediately (these used to be a precursor to an SVT episode).  These issues subsided about three weeks after ablation.  I still get a weird sensation infrequently, but these go away within a few seconds.  According to my EP, this is normal, and nothing to worry about.

Each case is different, as you will see on this board.  If you don't feel better soon, it might be a good idea to call your EP and tell him what's happening.

Skips and short runs of tachycardia are very normal following ablation therapy.  I'm 7 months post ablation, and I occasionally get a short run that lasts for maybe 5 seconds or so.  Give it a few it a few months before determining if it was a success or not.
