reducing Atenolol dosage

I have been taking 25mg Atenolol for PVCs for about 6 months.  One side effect has been a reduction to my resting heart rate.  Should I lower the dosage to 12.5 mg Atenolol per day?

That is the whole idea behind antenolol is to reduce the heart rate to help the heart relax, beat a little slower so that PVC's don't rear their ugly head and block out adrenaline.  I guess the major thing is the question if the antenolol is keeping the PVC's at bay for you.  Alot of times what happens with many people is that any medication that we take does its job and then we get lulled into believing that we are better and don't need to take the meds or reduce the dosage when the reason that we are doing better is simply because the meds are doing their job and when you reduce them or stop them the symptoms immediately come back with a vengence.  I definately would not change out anything if it were me without consulting w. the doc that gave them to you in the first place. Trust me with rhythm issues it is must better for you heart to become more much more relaxed and beat slower that just the opposite which happens alot when we get runs of PVC's.  The biggest no no is to not stop taking them suddenly....you could experience something called re bound where the PVC's will come back X3 and put you into a world of hurt....with any beta blocker we all have to be slowly weaned off of them for a week or two.  Better to be safe then sorry i always say and run it past the doc....even reducing them without the okay of your doc could set the series off again...good luck with this....
