The septum of the heart is the dividing wall between the right and left sides of the heart. The portion of the septum that separates the two upper chambers (the right and left atria) of the heart is termed the atrial (or interatrial) septum while the portion of the septum that lies between the two lower chambers (the right and left ventricles) of the heart is called the ventricular (or interventricular) septum. When the heart contracts, these partitions should contract as well. In your case, ischemia (lack of blood supply) or diseases like cardiomyopathy, a part of the septum is affected by which it moves less than normal when the heart beats.
Thanx, I just started a new job with good health insurance. the insurance i had with my last company was terrible. I had 9,000 dollars worth of heart related tests done and they only paid 2,000. I have full intentions when this kicks in to get a second opinion.
HI. I am not a doctor, but I googled septal hypokinesis. My understanding is that its reduced blood flow to the heart. (IF) I understood it correctly, then you have moderate reduced blood flow to the heart? I dont understand why they are not treating you (finding out what caused it etc...)? Is there any way you can get a new cardiologist? Bring that report in to your cardioloigst and tell him you want answers.
