short bursts of tachycardia

short bursts of tachycardia

Has anyone evfer experienced short bursts of tachy lasting only a few seconds?? It happens to me infrequently and I notice it happens whenever it wants though most times i seem to be putting pressure on my left side.  It also tends to quit if i sit up and take a deep breath. IS THIS NORMAL? I have PVCS PACS and SVT. My last holter was just a few months ago and in a 48 hour period only showed 89 events. I take inderal, verapamil and xanax. It kind of freaks me out when it happens because i can't find the for sure trigger for this one

I've had 3 ablations and I seem to be left with just "mini tachys" as I call them. Rarely do I have any tachy times that last more than a minute. Yes, they do come and go as they please. Sometimes if I eat too quickly, move too quickly, I'll get a quick burst of heart rate 150-198. Then it turns off just as suddenly. Oh well.

hi..Im writing this quite a while after you posted, so I dont know if you will even ever read it...but just in case..I wanted to say YES!! Finally, I found somebody who is experiencing what I am! It scares me! I have had palpitations, skipped beats for probably 15 years. Ive had all the tests...a couple of stress tests...the latest testing being just a year ago. Everyone tells me its stress related...not dangerous..etc...etc...ignore it...
well, in the past few months yes, I too, have been having short bursts of very fast heartrate! Im on a bigger dose of Atenolol, too..50 mg in the morning, and 50 at night. It doesnt happen very often...like..a couple times a MONTH...and it just happened not five minutes ago. I feel a weird sensation in my chest, I quick ck my pulse..and 8 beats raced along. Then goes back into normal rhythm. Just enough to scare me.
I dont know if I should bring this up to a Dr or not.

If this is a new rhythm for you, it wouldn't hurt to ask your doctor. Make sure it's just some PSVT and not NSVT. Even short bursts of NSVT won't be life threatening in themselves but they do carry a greater risk down the road. Just find out for your own peace of mind.

PSVT- paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (sporadic upper chambers of the heart fast rhythm)

NSVT - non-sustained ventricular tachycardia (short bursts of lower chambers of the heart fast rhythm)
