They never let me see the papers and I dont think that I can look at it, but I had a doctor look at it like 5 years ago when I was more active and he said that it wasnt a problem
Ok so they sent me a letter telling me that i have SA but could it be because they also said that I have an irregular heatbeat? But if that is the case then how is that a problem?
Nature put there to increase gas exchange as you breath. Your heart speeds up when you breath in, this gets more blood into the alveoli in the lungs when the fresh air is there. Your heart slows down when you exhale, this gives the freshly oxygenated blood to get back into your heart. That's all sinus arrhythmia is, the heart speeding up and slowing down. Check your pulse as you breath, you will notice it.
The younger we are the more pronounced it is.
There's no way I can see the US military excluding people who have it, they'd be excluding just about everyone. It's not a health hazard.
The only thing I can think of that happened to you was that the SA you have has something else going on. Sometimes SA can get a bit a extreme I guess. Or, they found something else going on but the SA was noted on the EKG. Can you go back to these records and get the report?
Hi,
The heart have to work harder when you inhale and less when you exhale.
The reason is: Blood is pushed down into the heart (increased preload) when you expand the lung volume.
If you have sinus arrhythmia, it means the nervous system has a proper "sensing" for those changes, and may adjust the heart rate (increased when you inhale, decreased when you exhale). If you don't, the heart have to work harder for each heartbeat when you inhale, and unnecessary hard when you exhale.
It's a good thing. Relax :-)
How is it beneficial? I've Googled it and the things I've read have only explained to me what it is but not if it was a health hazard for trying to join the military.
Sinus arrhythmia is perfectly normal and beneficial to you. Goolge it, tons of info. I can't think of a reason why this would exclude you from any activity unless they are referring to something else.
