slow heart rate, high blood pressure?

Hi, I'm a 52 year old female (not athletic but not overweight, I have Graves Disease but it's under control) and at a recent doctor visit, had a 42 bpm heart rate and high blood pressure. I had been feeling dizzy. Primary physician referred me to a cardiologist, who gave me an appointment for over a month from now. They did have me wear a Holt monitor for 24 hours and said they'd call me if it looked like I needed to be seen sooner.  Yesterday my primary physician's office called me to make sure I'd seen a cardiologist as directed and they were surprised that I have to wait a month. Should I be concerned? Should I try to get a better appointment? Is it normal to wait a month when being referred to a cardiologist with a 42 bpm heart rate and high blood pressure? Sounds a little strange to my experience, but then I have been going to the same cardiologist for 15 years, and I don't recall what it took for the first visit.  I can say I have to make my 6 month check-up appointment (a regular for me) about a month ahead to be able to find a day on his calendar.

My belief is you primary care would say something if they believed you condition was too critical to wait a month.  Call them back and ask since they were so open as to express surprise at the delay.  Maybe that was nothing more than a comment from a person more familiar with how long one has to wait for a first appointment with the doctor (or doctors) in he/his office.
