Me too, even after the ablation. I'll get salvos of PVC's and PAC's for perhaps 10 seconds, then one thump and it'll drop back into normal rhythm. I also stop dead and "listen" .............. just to make sure it goes back into rhythm, In the old days, this was always a precursor to SVT.
I get them too sometimes. I get these really HUGE thumpers at times. One time I was on my recliner chilling like all-get-out, feeling one with the universe. The TV remote control was resting on my chest. Well out of no where I got the biggest dang thumper and I kid you not, it made the remote fall off my chest.
The feeling of the ectopics has a lot to do with their timing during the heart's beat cycle. There's a lot going on.
Keep in mind that the circulatory system is all fluid (blood). Fluids are not compressible. If a premature beat fires, the upper and lower part of the heart can be contracting at the same time, fighting each other. This causes an effect called "hydraulic shock". Have you ever shut a faucet off really quick with older plumbing in a house, you might hear the pipes shake in the walls or even bang? that's what hydraulic shock is, and what is giving some of those feeling when your heart misfires.
Oh my gosh Rita. I am laughing and tearing cause I tell my husband "good bye" too!!
I had one driving too and mine sometimes are ao bad I kinda black out! I went off the road a litte on a fuzz and then came to. At that time me and my doc thought they were panic attacks since I was under stress due to my daughter having scoliosis surgery. NOT.
I remember each bad episode very well and my counselor said if they are severe enough it can cause PTSD. I say svt and anxiety are cousins or siblings in my opinion. They bring each other on or something. ??
I have had them in the shower too. So I hated taking showers for a while. BUT at least I know what it is now. And I am not soooo afraid.
This forum has been a life saver.
Ps. I am going for the ablation in Feb. Have to get this monster out of my closet!!
Kim
Thanks for your replies, I figured I wasn't the only one ;)
I get that sometimes. One time I almost cancelled a Disney trip because it happened while packing after several weeks of almost NOTHING! What I do when it happens is jump up. Sometimes that helps, sometimes not.
I also had it happen on the way driving home from work one night. It lasted the WHOLE ENTIRE TIME! I think I remember taking off most of my clothing as I drove (it was dead winter) and opening a window, calling my husband (instead of an ambulance, guess I knew) on Onstar, and it subsided as I pulled into my driveway. I called him to say goodbye because I knew it was the end. That was 4 years ago.
Yes, I guess I would say those are the scariest ones....
I get the same thing. Have had them for years like that. It's is a little scary.
I do get those occasionally. If I'm talking to someone, I have to pause and wait till everything settles. It kind of takes my breath away but since it only lasts a few seconds, I'm patient. It doesn't seem to do any harm other than feel strange. My standard is if I don't pass out, then I'm doing just fine. :-)
