GERD vs. HPV?

49 y/o white male, quit smoking and heavy drinking 11 yrs ago, Saw ENT dr. for a sore throat and he found a papilloma on the deep back of my throat and what appears to be an ulcer on my left vocal chord. He stated it is an ulcer because a papilloma wouldn't be red around the outside. Outpatient surgery is scheduled for the papilloma and nexium 40mg is prescribed for 90 days for the ulcer.
Do you agree or might the ulcer be another papilloma?

Sounds like a logical plan of treatment
Acid reflux can definitely cause ulcers in upper airway and symptoms such as cough, hoarse voice etc
