hemorrhoids

can hemorrhoids hurt for days at a time around your anal area,  it will go away for a little while than come back. i do know i have them, i bleed sometimes and i see a few little ones now and than but they have never hurt like this , worried about it.  i am going to my dr next week to sedcule a colnonoscopy  been 12 years since my last one but scared with this pain not sure whats going on.
