My wife read that wild mushrooms were nottoeaten by people with liver disease. Does anyone no if this is true , if sono mushrooms. I do eat mushrooms that are grown, like you get in the produce area of
Kroger's . Let me know if anyone has any knowledgeof this.

i personally would not eat them. Why take the chance. there are many less exotic things that we have to give up for our liver health, i.e. fried foods, sugar, meat, etc. So this should be the easiest type of thing to give up. best of luck

PS, watch out for those magic mushrooms that make you see funny things :-)

As you said your liver is fragile...
If you have cirrhosis and you accidentally eat a poisoned mushroom it could cause your cirrhosis to decompensate and lead to rapid liver failure. Not something you ever want to have happen!!!

I live in San Francisco where the most liver transplants in the U.S. are performed on persons who have eaten poisoned mushrooms. They can be fatal to anyone with a healthy liver. To a person with cirrhosis, well you can imagine.

If you haven't already, get your Hep A&B shots and a pneumonia shot.
Stay away from alcohol and certain drugs.

Take care.
