AIH - Azathioprine 75mg & Entocort 3mg 3aday

I was correctly diagnoised in 2007 with AIH I'm 52yrs old.  In my mid-20's I was wrongly diagnoised w/ Hepatitis C or a bad case of Mono.  tests did not show C but they told me I probably had it so after a week in the hospital of bed rest and no medicine they sent me home to rest another week.
This has troubled me throughtout the years because I would have blood tests taken for new life insurance policies and sometimes I'd pass and other times not. strange huh.
my question: I have now been on Azathioprine and Entecort for 2 weeks my numbers have greatly improved. Now AST 49, Alkline 133, and ALT 64.
however I am wondering if there is anyone else that is using these drugs also and what are you experiencing, as to side effects? test results ? how long have you been on them? and have you tried other drugs?

Hi,
I currently take 50 mg of azathiprine & 2.5 prednisone. In the beginning (2002) I was on hugh amounts of both, but gradually dropped down.  I am doing fine, no issues, I see my doctor next month, but wish I could come to a point in time where the prednisone could be dropped totally but doubt that can ever be. Other then that, I am doing fine, & have never tried the entecort so I can't say what type of after effects go with that one but I really haven't had an issue with the drugs I take other then I know that prednisone has caused me bone issues & sort of drops the immune system down.  Wish I could tell you more. I have been on Entocort since May 1, 2009 for AIH.  My liver was pretty inflamed and I had ascites.  I started with 3 capsules, then 2, and now I've been on one capsule for the past 3 months.  I have blood taken every 2-6 weeks and my enzymes and numbers always come back normal!  I'm not sure if these symptoms are just a coincidence since I started the medication, but I have had very unusual menstrual cycles and I have these strange sores on a couple of my fingertips that started in May and haven't gone away.  I had both checked and they seem to think the unusual mentrual cycle is that I'm going through my change (I doubt it) but they don't know about the fingers.  They gave me a perscription for hydrocortisone!  Oh well.
