10 weeks pregnant and positive for Hepatitis B surface antigen

by zipped, Apr 27, 2003 12:00AM
I am 10 weeks pregnant with my fourth child.I tested positive for the Hepatitis B surface antigen test. After further testing,  I was discovered to have C antibodies as well. I am the mother of 3,  all healthy. However,  I had a blood transfuson with my first child in 1990 after postpartum hemoraging. I had a second blood transfusion in 1997, after having my third child. I am not an IV drug user, have had only two partners in the past 15 years. I was given the test results from my OB's nurse, as he is out of town for two weeks.  She really didn't explain anything to me, but wanted my unborn's father to have bloodwork. I feel left in the dark and have another week to wait to speak to my OB. I am completely ignorant when it comes to any knowledge of Hepatitis. Any information that anyone could share,  would be appreciated tremendously. Thank you.
