2nd question : Please comment on my test results

Hi there, Thanks for the teamwork and the help.

My Hepatitis B test results are as below:

1) on 6/11/09:
Labcorp: hep B surface antibody : 1.25 that is called status of immunity,  (Ref range ::: Inconsisten with immunity if between 0.0 to 0.99, immune if >0.99)
Hep b surface ag: negative, HBV core ab, hbv core total ab, HBeag, HBeab: all negative

1)on 6/26/09
Quest diagnostics: Hepatitis B surface antibody test, QL: Non reactive, HBS ag: non reactive,
Bioreference lab: Hep B surface antibody and antigen: all non-reactive.

2)On 7/10/09 :
Quest diagnostics: Hepatitis B surface antibody test, QL: INDETERMINATE, HBS ag: non reactive, hbv dna test : not detected
LABCORP: Hepatitis B surface antibody test: 0.84( Ref rangeInconsisten with immunity if between 0.0 to 0.99, immune if >0.99), HBs Ag: negative, hbv dna : not detected

1) Should I be worried about 7/10/09 test from quest diagnostics: Hepatitis B surface antibody test, QL: INDETERMINATE?
2) do you know how does it show : Indeterminate? What does it mean?

Can we say that for sure (surface antobody seems to be indeterminate) ?
Or sandy needs to be vaccinated ?

some people lose their immunity (antibodies). Get vaccinated again and check.

What does "Indeterminate" mean?
What does "Inconsistent" mean?

you're clear of it. u can run what is calle a "titer" test to get the right antibodies value you got. however, in your June test this is your results:

Labcorp: hep B surface antibody : 1.25 that is called status of immunity,  (Ref range ::: Inconsisten with immunity if between 0.0 to 0.99, immune if >0.99)

it shows you are well above the 0.99 value. . You are at 1.25 so your antibodies are present and strong.

i would run a titer test and see the correct value. keep in mind that different laps use different measurements and cut off values so you wont get the same results from two or more different laps.

your tests shows strong antibodies, there is a slim to none chance you lost your antibodies in one month.

usually a loss of antibodies happens very very slowly and over many many years.. say you are married to someone with chronic hepatitis B. y are immune by vaccination. so unprotected sex is safe for you. what can happen maybe a tiny loss of antibody over time but ur still immune .. the rule of the thumb is if you ar enegative to hbsag and postive to hbsab then you are immune by vaccination or past clearance.

honestly, i wouldnt worry so much if i were you.. worst case scenario is run a titer test and if you believe or your doctor believes you dont have enough antibodies then take the shots again

Hi, Thanks a lot for your nice reply.

I forgot to let you know that
On 6/26/09 quest diagnostics test hep b surface antibody,QN was done too and it shows 5iu/ml and (ref range is  >10 iu/ml).

So Do you think that from 6/26/09 to 7/10/09, the result stays same"not immune" and that is what " indeterminate" means?

Thanks again for everything.

best to check on it again.. run more tests

you could have develope antibodies through clearence of past infection
