AST (SGPT) of 74

AST (SGPT) of 74

Should I be very worried about this test result? I have been on medication (Viread) and eating right, and it appears that liver damage is still occurring. What can be done at this point? PLEASE HELP! Thanks.

no alt alone means nothing, it can be you are clearing hbv and it is a very good sign or it cn be viread doenst work

see full list of tests needed posted by 4est, single tests are all meaningless, to have a clear pic of what happens all tests are needed

as to liver damage antioxidants like heptech products can reduce fibrosis very fast with hbvdna und and can reduce slower even with hctive virus

Thanks much Stef2011 for your quick turn around response on my question. What is your email? I want to send you my recent results, perhaps you/ I can have a better picture of what is going on.

Sorry it was a long report, which looking back at it some of the items there as just for check up purposes not necessary HBV related information... See the results below;

ALT -  74
AST - 42
Bilrubin total - 0.9
Bilrubin Direct - 0.1
Albumin - 4.5
HBVDNA PCR <20
HBSAG - Reactive
HBSAB - Non - Reactive
HBEAG - Non- Reactive
HBEAB - Reactive

Thanks in advance for your help on this.

not very helpful, hbsag quant missing so it is difficult to say if you are an inactive carrier just by hbvdna

hbvdna is und so antivirals are useless in your case

ALT -  74
AST - 42

too elevated, reasons:
immune clearance, hbsag mighthelp confirm this
hbvdna test is not good sensibility, maybe hbvdna is between 10 and 20 and assay can t detect it

maybe drugs, diet or fatty liver makes alt/ast elvated.ultrasound can detect fatty liver

Now that I have tested negative for the HBSAG, provided that the virus does not come back, will the damage(liver) and external (Facial skin, brown pigments in sclera) go back to normal? If so how long will it take?

What are some things that I can probably do to get back to normal?

, will the damage(liver) and external (Facial skin, brown pigments in sclera) go back to normal?

they should

If so how long will it take?

what is biopsy or fibroscan result?

real vitamins from food sources and antioxidants can help fasten this process of reapir.if liver was F1 it repairs itself by 6-12months without no need of antioxidants but these are healthy anyway

Thanks Stef - I forget what the fibroscan readings were, but it was not bad - at least the one done in June. Not sure if there was further damage after that as there was no fibroscan done after - there was however some upper right ribcage dull pain though. Maybe its too early to tell, but I feel like my energy level is getting better  - I feel less tired and more ready to do day to day.

Thanks again for all your insight on this stef

Hi Stef -

Just wanted to clear up one thing...the ALT of 74 has to do with the immune clearance of the HBV virus since I'm now negative? Or is it abnormal for other reasons?
Blank
Avatar_m_tn

it can be both but if hbsag is negtive and hbasb>200-300miu/ml it may be due to other reasons

be careful to check hbsag with architect so tht you know for sure it is not just an hbsag mutant, to check hbsab ntibody titer and to check hbvdna pcr

My HBSAG was non-reactive, so what could be other reasons for what my ALT is so high?
Blank
Avatar_m_tn

hbsag non reactive is not yet clearance of hbv:

hbsag can be low in serum and not detactable by the assay but present in the liver, so immune system is still clearing infected cells and this is why alt ia abnormal

hbsab titer still low to protect other liver cells from reinfection

hbsag mutated so the infection is still on, hbsag is just negative because the lab is using an old assay that cannot detect hbsag mutants

hbvdna is still detactable due to the low titer of hbsb so infected cells are still being killed

f hbsab is very high and no hbsag mutants present it can be you have fatty liver, how was US?
