Additional blood test

Additional blood test

We are adopting and have had blood tests done on our Chinese daughter who is still in China.

HBsAg negative

HBeAg negative

HBcAb negative

HBsAb positive

HBeAb positive

Can someone please interpret these?  I am being told that it is a 'good' prognosis.

Thank you.

Rick,

This one is much better than the last because now it shows HBsAB positive, which likely means she is has developed antibodies to HBsAG.

I'm still a little unclear on the HBeAB positivity.  Usually once the HBsAG becomes negative and the HBsAB becomes positive, there is no longer a need to test for HBeAB.  Because of this, the HBeAB marker is not usually discussed after appearance of HBsAB, therefore I am not 100% sure if the HBeAB marker will ever disappear (permanent but benign marker), or if this is a sign that there are remnants of the Hep in the blood.  This is DEFINITELY a question to ask of your doctor or a gastroenterologist or hepatologist.

Hope this helps,
Leeac
