Am I still imune to Hepatitis B?

Hello! I have a bit of a complicated question, hope you can help me, so I'll get right to the point. About 3 years ago I got my self vaccinated for Hapatitis B. I was in high school back then and it was a government supported program, all kids got vaccinated against this disease. About an year and a half ago, I had a very bad car accident, in which I got internal bleeding, I had to be urgently operated and I had my spleen taken out. I lost about 1.2 liters of blood and I needed blood transfusion. This question is not about that blood transfusion because I got tested for both HIV and Hepatitis C and they both came out negative, so the blood was ok. The question is: Am I still immune to Hepatitis B after I lost all that blood and spleen and needed transfusion? I have to specify that the vaccine is guaranteed to offer from 5 to 10 years of protection. I am looking forward for your answer, thank you.

The nurse can do a titer to find out if you are still immune to Hep. B. The first time I did the 3 shots it did not take. I had to do them all over again. Only a titer (blood test) will tell. Sorry you had such a very bad auto accident and lost your spleen, but glad you survived.

Even if the antiHbS titer falls below the limit of 100iU, thre is still protection in most vaccinated persons due to a long lasting class 2 T cell response that persists beyond the antibody production phase.

You did not tell if you ever had your titers checked after the vaccination. If you never reached a titer, then the above statement is not valid, it is only for those who reached a titer and later lost it.

I understand what you are saying, I did NOT do a titer, I didn't even know that the vaccine may not be efficient, they did not tell us at school. But I had all the shots in time and the vaccine producer was a good one, so I hope I am protected. But I understand that I cannot know for sure unless I get a blood test. Thanks for your info and time.
