my doctor clearly said no for peginterferon he said rather than good effects it has too many side effects he told me that with long term oral therapy it will go away
Every drug has side effects, even tenofovir has more side effects than entacavir, but tenofovir has greater chance of clearing the virus. If there is a chance to clear it then one should go for it rather then wait for virus to mutate and become drug resistance. You need to monitor your kidney functions in the initial stage of taking tenofovir. You should also get a fibroscan done to access the damage of the liver. Anything greater than 7 Kpa is a concern. I'm not sure when you have contracted it. It is necessary to have these tests done so that you know what is the current state of the disease and how the disease will progress at later stages. Indian doctors just follow the american guidelines blindly and non will advice to clear it. Get a genotyping, precore mutations and drug resistance check. You will not be able to do these tests when your virus count goes below 2000 IU/ml and since you are on tenofovir there is chance that it will go undetected in few months time. Also know your Hbsag levels.
Hi raj my doctor is one of the best doctors in india he is in top 10 he asked me to get all these tests done my age is just 24....my gi endoscopy was fine lft was fine just sgpt was 62 ....hbv dna was 170000000 ui ml and hbsag was 1900 but in 50 2 months hbv dna came to 200000 only using tenofovir and doctor was also happy he gives me multivitamins every alternate months too.... my fibroscan was 7.7 so he asked me to stop outside food n less fat diet ...he was saying this will come down with tenofovir and exercise ....i am hbeag positive also.
Good that you got your tests done. Fibroscan result is bit of a concern but will improve gradually with strict diet control and good exercise( I have got it to 4.6 Kpa this feb) It will improve nothing to worry about it.  But you are on a better side with hbeag +ve and SGPT being high. It clearly says your immunes system is trying its best. If your hbsag levels are consistently low or gets below 1000 IU/ml then you are in the ideal situation for peg-interferon therapy (hbeag +ve, sgpt high, low hbsag levels). Your doctor might suggest based on how you progress, but generally i have seen not many doctors suggest for peg intf(in fact not many know about the recent findings).
thanks raj soon u' ll be cured too i have heard that many deugs are in pipeline and in 3-5 years functional cure will be available like hep c . Replicor is the front runner.... and waiting for tenofovir 25 mg in india too

There is 5-10% chance of clearing it. Peg + tenofovir dual therapy can clear it, but it has lot of conditions to be met before you try it and it has to be taken under strict doctors guidance. I have tried it recently with peg + entacavir, results are not that great but my hbsag has come down a lot. There is a 5-10% chance during the therapy or after the therapy is over so still hoping to see if there is chance i could clear it.

god bless u you will clear it .....but my doctor straightaway said no for interferon he asked me too strictly stay on tenofovir and alternate month multivitamins ....whats your status now?
DNA undetected for 3 years now, Hbsag levels are fluctuating around 4k-10K IU/ml. What is your Hbsag Levels?
