Change Dr. Or to Consult New Dr.

Hi, I was wondering If, I should change my Dr. or consult New Dr. at this stage? I mean, I am going to be 36 weeks in my pregnancy in 2 days.
I need to order the medication before I run out of stock. Pl. Advice. Thanks

the possible sides effects of tdf or truvada are on patients with damaged kidneys already
there are no tests to know if kidneys are damaged (and many drugs like antibiotics or painkillers do damage without any tests showing this) so the only way is start antivirals and in case there is a rise of creatinine you know your kidneys were damaged and cannot stand any drugs

this happens on about 1-2% of patients o it will surely be not your case, i think the doctor just wants to be extra safe by checking creatinine.
i think this is mandatory on all patients but i have no idea if all doctors checked this.

At this point in your pregnancy I would find a Hepatologist asap to decide if and what medications you need to give your baby the best possible chance at not contracting HBV.

I had my 3 kids when I was HBsAG positive, HbeAG negative, and low viral load.  My twins are 15 and daughter 13 all received HBIG and first vaccine at birth and all are fine to this day.  I breastfed but only after the HBIG and vaccine was given.  My husband is also vaccinated.  Back then, they did not have the antivirals they do now, so I'm thankful I was HbeAG negative with low viral load.  Now with antivirals you do have more control and really need them during the last stages of pregnancy if you are HbeAG positive or high viral load.  Make this a priority this close to your due date and demand a specialist that knows what medication to put you on, if it is warranted. Best wishes!

You mean within the same insurance? Coz one of our friend here in this form tried to change an insurance from KP to UCSF med, they really gave him a hard time & it is still on pending.
