Does this mean I will be chronic?

As I have indicated in previous posts, I am in the acute stage of my hepatitis. I only have about another month to go until I find out whether or not I will be chronic or not. I have been feeling very sick and ended up in the ER a couple of weeks ago. The ran some tests and my AST was 41 (which was down from 68 2 week prior), my ALT was 55 (which was down from 84 2 weeks prior). I just had my monthly labs today and my AST is 43 and my ALT is 53. I expected both of these to go down more. My main concern is that my AST when UP from 41 to 43. I have been told that these number should continue to decline if it's acute. Does anyone know if this increase is a sign that my hep b will be chronic or do the levels sometimes go up and down during the acute stage? I am very concerned. Also, I just noticed that my albumin has continued to decline. It was in the 4s when I was first diagnosed and now it's 3.2.  I don't get to see my doctor until the 27th and I am freaking out.

I remembered when I visit my GI doctor, I normally go do the bloodwork about 4 weeks in advance, and normally wait 1 to 2 weeks to get the hep b dna PCR result, and in case there is an issue with not enough blood drawn, which it did happen to me once, and when I am visiting the GI office, the doctor will have my latest blood work in hand.

Thanks everyone. I heard back from my PCP and GI. They both said they are not concerned that my AST went up from 41 to 43 and that they feel I am on the way to full recovery. My GI is ordering hep serology tests which will give a better indication of where the hep b is at. Hopefully, it will show that my body is forming the antibodies but we'll see. I see my GI on the 27th so I will hopefully have a better indication of everything when I see him.

These test will give you and your doctor  the best indications on what to do

By ALT & AST decline is not always necessarily in the acute stage as these being elevated are usually signs of an immune response which you want in the IMMUNE CLEARANCE STAGE.

I don't know if checking ast and alt is enough, what normally done are HB  surface antigens, HB surface antibody, HBc-IgM, and maybe HB dna tests to see the progress.
Start care for your liver now, stop alcoholic drink and smoke, start regular exercise and keep your immune system in good shape.

I'm not an expert but there is not much you can do about it right now. There is nothing there that would change it's course. You will have to wait and see. Good luck and stay positive.
