HBS Antibody (HBAB positive)

by c1234, Oct 31, 2009 08:53PM
Hi - recently I took a STD test and found out that I tested positive for HBS Antibody (HBAB) but all other STD's came back neg.  The nurse at my doctors office gave me the news and said she didn't think there was anything to worry about as all that indicated was the presence of Hep B antibody, but she didn't sound too sure.  Needless to say this has made me a little worried.  I am almost 100% positive I would have been vaccinated for this as a child (i had all my other vaccinations done) but not sure.  Should I be worried?  The lab work that came back shows this result as being coded as *abnormal so it has worried me even more.  Anyones thoughts would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

You’ll want to repost this question in the Hep B forum:

http://www.medhelp.org/forums/Hepatitis-B/show/223

This is the Hepatitis Social community, and the majority of us are Hep C patients. They will probably need more info from you; HBV labs are much more complex to interpret. Good luck—

thanks Bill

C1234, you are immune of the virus due to past infection and clearance of the virus or by a previous vaccination.

knowing now you've been vaccinated while a child, we know now where yor antibodies came from..

you are free, clear and immune to the virus for life..

live happy and try to lead a healthy life

good luck
