HBV DNA ve

by louie k., Apr 22, 2003 12:00AM
Dear Sir,
My recent blood test result suggest that I am a Hep-B carrier and the mutation was taken place.
HBV-DNA  = 0.054copies/ml
HBeAg    = -ve
Anti-HBe = +ve
AST/ALT  = normal.
AFP <1.3

My medical advisor suggests to me not to take any medicine such as Lamivudine, ADV or alpha interferon. Just take a good rest and avoid bad food. I am worried about my chirdren and wife as they have no antibody. Is that the way I have to live with this way? Could you provide second oppinion on any other test could bring fruit for recovery.

Appreciate your response.

you seem to be an inactive healthy carrier. your medical advisor is correct. you just need to be monitored maybe once every six month or a year depends on what he/she says. you do not need treatment at this time. However, as your kids and wife dont seem to be in the greatest danger with you being inactive,. it is very very very important they get the Hep B vaccine so they can develop immunity. you never know how this virus works. it is the smartest virus currently known. things may change and hopefully they change for the best for you but for now you need to worry more about the well being of your wife and kids.. please have them vaccinated.

good luck

are you acute or chronic ? know how long you've had it for ?

what did your doctor say ?

dont worry. there are different treatments for Hep B. these treatments aim to supress and stop the replicating of the virus and ultimately bring it  down to undidectable and eventually hopefully seroconvert from hbeag postive to negative.
