HBsAg Positive

dear sir,

i have carried out my blood test on 1st Sep 2011 and doctor told me that i m HBsAg positive and all other test like PCR DNA, HBeAg is not reactive(negative) and doctor told me to come after 6 months for retest. He has not prescribe me any medicine.

i read so many article which tell us that 95% person get ride from the virus within 6 month....

can u please let me know that this virus can also ride and clear off from blood without showing any symptoms also? As i have not notice any symptoms from the date of infection.

please give me your opinion.

Very few people with Hepa B experienced the symptoms, mostly NO symptoms

but what you think that without symptoms also people recover from infection......as virus can be rid off without symptoms.....

yes, people can recover from infection without any symptom.

your doctor should test anti HBc IgM instead of wait for 6 months, so maybe we should discuss this with your doctor or look for a second opinion.

AFP 4.04 ng/ml
HBeAg 0.043

what u think on the basis of this report?

Hbc IgM = IgM antibodies to Hepatitis B core (HBc) antigen in human serum and indicate if the infection is acute or chronic (without to be necessary to wait 6 months)

base on your report is not possible to say if is acute or chronic (will be only a supposition anything we say). so, test this Hbc IgM and after this we can discuss base on the response.

If hbv acute - you can do nothing and you have a good chance to clear the infection, if hbv chronic - you shoul made some more tests (fibroscan, us, qaghbs, filver panel ...) and base on this and your history and your age ...your doctor should determine if treatment is needed or not (probably not - base on your HVB DNA - but this is also a supposition)

"Hbc IgM"  in English documents you can find under the following name "IgM anti-HBc"

where should i go for this test?
is this possible in India or UAE?
if u have any information......
Blank
Avatar_m_tn
no information regarding India or UAE, but "IgM anti-HBc" is a common test so the lab were you have the other tests should be capable to test this one also,

I have carried out my test for Visa in June 2011 at that time hope fully it was not there (i dont have report from government of UAE) but in sep 2011 HBsAg was there.
as looking to my result above...is this not in detectable range?

and what is my chance to clear if off by looking my report?

i don't know.

if you say that in June the HBsAg was negative and in September was positive, you were infected between and in this case you have a good chance to clear the virus.

I have carried out IgM HBc and it come negative so can u please let me know what else test is required and since how log i got this infection.

"I have carried out IgM HBc and it come negative" - it seams that you are in a chronic phase, so maybe more test have to be done before a decision.

- liver status by Fibroscan or biopsy (if Fibroscan is not available in you area biopsy is one of the alternative),
- HBsAg quantitative if is possible

and after that find a good doctor and discuss the next steps base on actual  results.

"how log i got this infection" - nobody can say from how long, probably from  childhood, but  nobody can say fore sure
