the hep b core antibody total can be ambiguous at times because in order to interpret it you need the hep b surface antigen and the hep b surface antibody result.

if it is present with anti-hbs+(positive) and a hep b surface antigen- (negative) then you are immune due to natural infection.  you have cleared it and are not a carrier or chronically infected.

if it is present with a anti-hbs - (Negative) and hep b surface antigen (positive)  then it means that you carry the virus and your body did not clear it, hence you have no immunity (negative) anti-hbs.

refer to the results from Hep b surface antigen test, and hep b surface antibody.

it is just the first antibody made by immune system when the virus gets to the liver but it doesn't help to know hbv status, only hbc ab igm test can tell if you have just got it recently
the most important tests
hbvdna tells you how much hvb in the blood
hbeag/hbeab can help to know your hbv status
alt/ast and fibroscan can tell the damage to your liver

but a very good liver specialist plus other blood tests might be needed, just check old posts for type of tx, when they are needed and which tx are not used anymore as firstline because they can lead to virus mutation and resistance
