Help with Lab Test

Hi I need to know if I I should go for treatment or not...

Most likely I got this virus when my mother gave birth to me.   I don't know about treatment options b/c the
doctor said we have to wait until you have the baby.  Also, I don't know if I actually require treatment and what kind is the best for me based on my results.

Here are my lab results as well as my recent HBV DNA Viral load.  My mom's results indicates that she once had it but is now immune).  I am thinking she had it when she gave birth to me, and then recovered completely.  Can someone tell me what does my DNA level mean...I am also e antigen negative...what treatment options are out there for someone like me.

  My results are as follows:

  Prot Total 7.0
Albumin 3.5
AST/SGOT 20
ALT/SGPT 16
ALK PHOS 75
BILI TOTAL 0.3
BILI DIRECT <0.07

Hep B Surface AG Positive
  Hep B AB NEGATIVE
HEP A IGM NEGATIVE
HEP B CORE IGM NEGATIVE
HEP C AB NEGATIVE
HEP BE AG NEGATIVE
HEP B SURF AB NEGATIVE
Hep B anti-Hbc positive
HBV DNA Viral Load (PCR) 842 iu/ml  1550 copies/ml

hi and welcome to the forum. (Just a little note that this is a patient to patient forum - no docs here). I am not too up on the A&B tests so I won't try to decifer them. I will say your viral load for hepatititis C is very low.  You don't say your age, but I assume you must be fairly young.  Because your Vl is so low, you could possibly wait until better tests come along to treat.  Unfortunately tho, viral load does not tell you how much liver damage you may have.  The only way to tell that is a biopsy and I would recommend getting one..  Has your doc suggested this?  Also, you need to know your genotype.  Certain genotypes (3 & 4) treat for 24 weeks instead of 48 weeks.  So you need this information also in order to make an informed decision on whether to treat.

One thing to think about is that when there is little liver damage and you are young, your system handles the treatment better.

1a, pre treat VL 1.52 million IU, on week #48/56, clear since #20.

It looks to me that you might have hepatitis B, not hepatitis C. You're in the right forum, but unfortunatly, most of us only know about hep C, not B.

You might try this site, where doctors answer your questions and they are more up on Hep B --
