Hello,
I'm new on this forum.

It's been five years since the diagnose (got it as a baby - Asia and when there was no vaccination then). How do you stay positive?  Five years and my mind is still revolve around the idea that I'm ashamed to get close to anyone, to discuss it openly. I'm overly depressed even though the doctor says the treatment is going well, but far from being recovered, might be never.

Can someone give me some pointers on how to find a light at the end of this tunnel?  I feel isolated as I can't be in a relationship without fearing of infecting another innocent live.

Hi, I am from Philippines and I am also a chronic hbv carrier I discover it 16 years ago (I was 18 yrs old ) and since then I try to live a healthy lifestyle. The disease is really depressing especially if you cannot apply for a job that will not allow workers with hbv positive. What I did is to remain to have a positive outlook in life when it was my time to have a blood test as a requirement for work. the virus is still there, it crushed me down. I seek doctors advice and undergone  blood test, fibroscan and ultrasound. Two doctors says that I am a healthy carrier so they gave me a clearance/certification that I am fit to work. Now I am still working with the company that i applied 4 years ago. For your concern that you can infect someone, HBV can be transmitted through blood to blood or body fluid (thru sex). Luckily for me that my wife is not infected as well as my two kids as per my doctor my HVB has a low risk of being infectious, might be the reason my wife was not infected even though she doesn't have vaccine. For safety I asked my wife to have a vaccine.

My advice, don't loss hope for me everything is happen for a reason.

The disease can cause depression, so you might want to try a gentle anti-depressant.  Focus on living.  You could walk across the street and get hit by a car easier than dealing with a chronic illness. The treatments are working and realize the only control you have is you...your feelings are not real. They are "feelings." So join a meditation center and learn how to think positively.  Shambhala meditation centers are everywhere! They are free and will help you to learn to relax.  Fear is your enemy. You asked the question, that was courage!

You are already on a good path! Keep up the good work.  : )
Best, dbz
