Hep B Results - am I immune?

by CrisPT, Nov 05, 2009 04:14AM
Hi,

In 2005 I was tested for STD's and my Hep B results came out as positive for one of the anti-genes and for anti-bodies HBV at 52.
This year I got tested again and all the anti-genes came out negative but the HBV anti-body was now 441. Does this mean I was infected in 2005 and immune now? My doctor cannot say and asked for more test.

If your surface antibodies (HBsAb or Anti- HBsAg) are 441, then you are immune.

I personally have never heard the term “anti-genes”…maybe others have. I’m a little confused by the wording.

Core antibodies would indicate a past or current infection, but those usually stay positive for life whether or not you are immune by past infection or currently infected.

It would be helpful if you get copies of you test results and post the exact result. In the mean time you can visit out welcome page and see if the “Lab Basics” section helps you. You can find that page here:
