Hep B immunity - still react on exposure?

Hep B immunity - still react on exposure?

I have been vaccinated against Hep B.

I have potentially recently been exposed to Hep B through direct blood contact (needlestick).

Although I am 'immune' due to the vaccination, would I still react to this exposure (see symptoms below)? Would a reaction occur on the timeline detailed below?

I have had generalised gland swelling (armpits and groin) from 23 days post exposure to the present (day 70) and what feels like an enlarged painless lump (liver?) below my sternum.

I have tested negative to HIV at 33 and 70 days, negative to Hep c at 33 days.

Please help!

Your body has probably fought off the HBV.  To be sure, test to see if you are HBsAg negative and anti-HBs positive.  If yes, you are fine.

I am still suffering from the above symptoms, I assume the swollen glands etc would mean I am still fighting it.

I will have the tests you mentioned done in 2 weeks, which will be 3 months post exposure - will that be conclusive?

If I am diagnosed with HIV, could that delay the detection of HBV or vice versa?

If you get HBsAg negative and anti-HBs positive, yes it is conclusive; if not test again around 6 months.

Not sure how HIV interects with HBV.

Your symptoms are pretty general and could indicate a cold or allergies.  If your liver were so swollen that it could palpated you would probably be having more specific symptoms.  I'm not a doctor but I don't think these are Hep B related symptoms.

Thank you both for your help, much appreciated. I will arrange for the testing just in case - God bless you both.
