Hep B infection via LAB ERROR?!

Last February, my wife and I were diagnosed as being exposed to Hep B. Our lab results for the past few months:
Me Wife
February HBS Ag + HBS Ag +
HBS AB - HBS AB -
HBC AB - HBC AB -
HBe Ag - HBe Ag -
May HBS Ag + HBS Ag -
HBS AB - HBS AB -
August HBS Ag + HBS Ag -
HBS AB - HBS AB -
October HBS Ag - HBS Ag -
HBS AB - HBS AB -
Our doc said my wife was recovering nicely, and I was starting to recover. I wanted a second opinion, so we went to see a liver specialist last week and had the entire battery of tests done with the following results:
November HBS Ag - HBS Ag +
HBS AB - HBS AB -
HBV DNA - HBV DNA + (13000 copies/ml)
So the specialist said, based on the DNA results, I was never infected (the previous results were LAB ERRORS?!!!!), but my wife had an active replicating infection. What a mess! Is getting a third opinion worthwhile?
