Hepa B Test Results Indeterminate????

by endymione, Jul 08, 2008 04:23PM
I just got my Hepa B test result from our annual physical exam...

The HSsAG came out NON-REACTIVE
but the Anti-HBs came out to be 9.320 iu/L (grayzone)

I don't recall getting any Hepa B shots in the past and the notes in my results say that I should consider HEPATITIS B INFECTION... and that i should get a Hepa B Profile...

Should I be worried with these results? Do i really need to get profiling for Hepa B?
I appreciate any comments... Thanks

>>>Should I be worried with these results?

You do not have HBV but you may not be immune.  To be safe, get vaccinated.

Best.

i've tried peeking in the results of my officemates and most of them either have >1000 iu/L or just 2.00iu/L which is considerably self explanatory...

do you have any comments as to why the result went as high as 9.32 iu/L ????

i mean... does reading HBV test results only have a black or white interpretation?

Actually your 9.32 iu/L is not high enough for anti-HBs, for which the higher the better.

but what im trying to point out is how do i even get to that level, if i don't even remember taking an HBV shot???

is i a possibility that i was infected? can HBV even be cleared in my system after being infected?

You are right.  If you have never been vaccinated, you must have been exposed to HBV to trigger anti-HBs.

Best.
