ask your doc. for the hep b panel test:
includes:
Hep b surface antigen
Hep b surface antibody
hep b core antibody
Most importantly the "HEP B Surface Antigen" and "Hep B Surface Antibody" tests to know your status. (ie if you are immune or infected).
if you have hep b -
the Hep B surface Antigen test will be - Positive
it doesn't say anything about hbv status
all markers hbv quantitative, especially hbvdna are needed
after this you have to check liver damage by fibroscan (only if you have no alt flares over 300 in 6 months it is very reliable), ultrasound or biopsy
The table above is the only test that my Doctor ordered for Hepatitis B. Should it have been done more tests?
Thanks.
post your hep b panel test.
