Hepatitus Question

About a year ago I contracted what I was told was acute viral hepatitus (hepatitis) and was very ill for a month or so but recovered perfectly and was told that sexual contact would not be a problem for me...

Today I have found out from my ex-fiancee that her ex-partner has been diagnosed as being a "low-risk carrier".

My questions are as follows:

1) Where could he have picked this infection up, to be a carrier is this obtained from the parents or could he have become a carrier due to sexual contact.

2) Is it possible my infection was related to this, and if so what future risks do I face?

3) Where does this leave us all (Me, my ex-fiancee, her new b/f, my new g/f) ???
