How bad does it look?

Hi everyone, just want to commend everyone for contributing to this forum.

I'm hoping some one can tell me how bad my liver biopsy is: marked piecemeal necrosis, mild intralobular degeneration, moderate portal inflammation, fiberous portal expansion. Knodell score: 9.
Diffuse alteration of the periportal plate in all portal tracts, absent of bridging and confluent necrosis, at least one necroinflammitory focus per lobule, mononuclear aggregates in all portal tracts and stellate enlargement of portal tracts without septae formation. Metavir score: 7

I'm hoping someone can explain this biopsy report in layman terms. Just how bad is it? Can my liver repair itself at this stage?

Here are my results:
June 2010
Anti hbs negative
Gpt 354 u/l
Got 123 u/l
Hbv DNA > 110000000
Anti hbc Igm negative
Hbeag positive
I had liver biopsy and had a knodell score: 9

After 13 injections of Pegasys in Oct 2010
Gpt 52
Got 37.25

I'm going to get hbv DNA test next week.

I looking forward to reading all of your comments.

Metavir
The Metavir scoring system was specially designed for patients with hepatitis C. The scoring consists of using a grading and a staging system. The grade gives an indication of the activity or amount of inflammation and the stage represents the amount of fibrosis or scarring.  The grade is assigned a number based on the degree of inflammation, which is usually scored from 0-4 with 0 being no activity and 3 or 4 considered severe activity. The amount of inflammation is important because it is considered a precursor to fibrosis.

The fibrosis score is also assigned a number from 0-4:
• 0 = no scarring
• 1 = minimal scarring
• 2 = scarring has occurred and extends outside the areas in the liver that contains blood vessels
• 3=bridging fibrosis is spreading and connecting to other areas that contain fibrosis
• 4=cirrhosis or advanced scarring of the liver

Knodell
The Knodell score or histologic activity index (HAI) is also commonly used to stage liver disease. It a somewhat more complex process, but some experts believe that it is a better tool for defining the extent of liver inflammation and damage. It is composed of four individually assigned numbers that make up a single score. The first component (perioportal and/or bridging necrosis) is scored 0-10. The next two components (intralobular degeneration and portal inflammation) are scored 0-4. The combination of these three markers indicates the amount of inflammation in the liver:
• 0 = no inflammation
• 1-4 = minimal inflammation
• 5-8 = mild inflammation
• 9-12 = moderate inflammation
• 13-18 = marked inflammation
