Is it possible for symptoms of hep b to start 1-2 weeks after exposure or is it always at least a month? Does it start with sore throat and runny nose, progressing to flu like symptoms with stomach and back ache?
Hi, the incubation period (the time between initial contact with the virus and onset of the disease) for hepatitis B ranges from 45 to 180 days. But the HBV DNA can be detected approximately 21 days before HBsAg typically appears in the serum. The presence of HBV DNA in serum is a reliable marker of active HBV replication. HBV DNA levels are detectable by 30 days following infection, generally reach a peak at the time of acute hepatitis, and gradually decrease and disappear when the infection resolves spontaneously.
