if you are yellow ( jaundice ) i am dumbfounded as why the doc sent you home. i think i would be going to another doc or press the one you have and ask if there is a hep specialist at the hospital and see if you can get into see him soon.  from what i have understood being jaundice ( yellow ) is not a good thing.

hopefully someone who has been in your similar situation will respond  and answer your question.

Your symptoms will gradually fade within 4 to 8 weeks. Having jaundice in the setting of acute Hepatitis B is actually, if it is not "fulminant", a good thing  - it indicates a strong and focused cd8 CTl response that will clean your liver of the vast majority of the virus and you will then have "cleared",  having no chronic hepatitis B.

Do not stress yourself with anything for quite a while, until the surface antigen has disappeared. Nowadays some hepatologists treat acute HBV also with antivirals, to speed recovery.

Interesting comment on the jaundice. JMJM and I both had jaundice at the time of what we strongly believe to have been our infections. What means that?

It'll take awhile to get back to feeling better.  I was admitted to the hospital with HBV and I was soooo  sick!  Yellow, the pain in my stomach was almost unbearable, I was dehydrated, and so very weak.
You must rest and make sure you drink water, powerade or something, even if you can't keep it in, keep sipping.  (A tablespoon at a time)  I did clear the virus on my own, but it was a tough road.  Just take it easy & get plenty of rest.

On a funny note  (Now it's funny, wasn't at the time)
Everyone who came to visit me would walk in the room singing that old Donovan song...
"They call me mellow yellow"  LOL

Feel better....

I to had jauntice when i think i caught HepC. The reason for this with me was that I also caught HepB. HepB cleared on its own, HepC wasnt detected cause it didnt exist yet.

I also jaundiced with my Hep in ’67. I now wonder if that’s why I had a very low VL and little damage to my liver before starting tx.
I had no discomfort with the jaundice other than seeing a stranger in the mirror.

Are the Dark urine and Clay colored stools part of the jaundice,or are they additional things to worry about?
Going to Doc tomorrow.
